Tuning into your SENSES for finding the inner calm

Day 20

Word of the day: Tuning

Senses: the tools we use to perceive the world, our sight, our touch, our memory. If they lie to us, then nothing can be trusted.

– Neil Gaiman

When your mind is wandering and filled with a lots of thoughts, you need to be calm. That time, if you use your senses to tuning, your mind would be calmer and bring back to the present moment awareness.
The goal is to calm your mind by using your five senses to focus on your environment instead of your thoughts.

Here begins your day of Tuning.

The task of the day:
Take a seat and relax your body.
At first, you need to notice 5 things that you can see. Look around you. Become aware of your environment. Try to pick something that you don’t notice usually. Observe the color and some basic things about those five things.
Second step:
Notice 4 things you can feel. Bring attention to the things that you’re currently feeling. You can try to observe the ground you are sitting in, or the air around you, or the texture of your clothes.
Third step:
Notice 3 things that you can hear. Listen  mindfully and notice things in the background. It could be the sounds of the birds chirping outside, or the voice of the people talking around, or something else.
Fourth step:
Notice 2 things you can smell. Bring attention to the sense of smelling and be aware of this moment.
Finally, notice 1 thing you can taste. You can take a drink, or some food, or you can notice the current taste in your mouth.
Use these five senses to bring your focus to this present moment.

Quote of the day:

Be aware, be calm.

– the saffron storyteller

Affirmations of the day:
I feel calm, I feel peaceful. I can feel all of my senses. I can feel the present moment more than before. I am more aware of this moment now. I can feel the connection between my body, mind, and soul. I can feel this self. I can feel my inner self and this brings peace in my mind.

Write in your journal:
Today you need to write about your thoughts of bliss. As you gifted yourself a handful of peaceful moments, pen down your feelings and emotions. Whatever you felt and discovered, just write it down. It’s all about your experience, write it in your own way.

The last step of this process:
Before you leave the place, assure yourself by saying:
“Today, I found some time from the rush of life to spend some blissful moments with myself. I discovered to quiet my mind in a blissful way. It helps to heal the mind, body, and soul. I embraced peace and calm with all my heart. I will let this state of bliss stay with me for the whole day. I will come back tomorrow with a new purpose and try to learn a new way of living mindfully.

I am here to receive more peace and more calm in my life.”

This is all for today. We will come back here tomorrow once again with a new way of mindful living. Till then, be still, be calm, be mindful.
