Word of the Day – Focus
It’s been five days since I am writing on ways of mindful living and talking about mindfulness. But what is mindfulness? In simple words, mindfulness is the art of being aware of the present moment. We all know that meditation helps us to increase the power of concentration. When you sit at a specific place daily or regularly, at a certain hour of the day, and try to meditate, after some days, your power of concentration will gradually increase. Mindfulness helps you to be more focusses on the goal of life.
So today I choose the word of the day Focus for my series of embracing more peace in life.
When you sit for the meditation with the purpose of increasing focus, it also helps you to reduce stress. This kind of meditation style allows you to focus your attention on an object, sound, or sensation.
Here begins your day of Focus.
The task of the day:
For today’s task, at first, you need three things: a few minutes in you hand, an object to focus on and a quiet place. You can choose the place as per your choice, don’t need to be specific to choose your place of meditation.
Sit and relax your body. Choose a target for your focus. Turn your attention to your chosen target. Try to experience it, bring your awareness completely to the present moment. Feel the target you are focussing on and observe.
For this little frame of time, calm your inner voice. Your inner self might want to start another conversation and your mind might start counting the jobs listed for today in your to do list. But the trick is, focus on the object you have set and try to bring back your focus on that, after wandering some moments in other things to do.
The main purpose of this meditation is to maintain quiet in your mind. Be in this stillness for some moments, and then try to come back to the previous state.
Quote of the day:
Affirmations of the day:
Today, I am focussing on the thing that is my favourite. I am trying to build a connection between the wandering mind of mine and the stillness within my soul. For the few moments I am practising to be aware of this present moment, I am discovering some beautiful hidden truths about myself. I am focussing on here and now.
Write in your journal:
As you observe the target of your focus, you need to write down your own experience. Write down what you see, what you hear and what you feel. You may write down the best part of the secret conversation with your inner voice if you discover any beautiful truth in the dialogue. Write about your calmness and the stillness in your mind. You may write about what you need to do for becoming more focused on the object to increase the power of concentration.
The last step of this process:
Before you leave the place, assure yourself by saying:
“Today I learned to be more focus on this present moment. I dedicated a few minutes to calm the mind and being aware of this present moment only.
I will let this peace of mind stay with me for the whole day.
I will come back tomorrow with a new purpose and try to learn a new way of living mindfully.
I am here to receive more peace and more calm in my life.”
This is all for today. We will come back here tomorrow once again with a new way of mindful living. Till then, be focussed, be calm, be mindful.
